Reassurance Scan 12-24 weeks

Service Description

The 12-24 week reassurance scan is designed to check your baby’s well being and to confirm viability (whether a heartbeat is visualised) in order to give you reassurance from 12 weeks gestation. Measurements will be taken at the time of the scan to give you an approximate idea of gestation. We will also be able to check if it is a single or multiple pregnancy and in the correct location. If you have already had your first routine NHS scan, we will be able to check that your pregnancy is continuing as expected. If our sonographer is concerned at all with any unexpected findings during your scan, appropriate aftercare and advice will be offered and a report given. If you are having pelvic pain or bleeding, we would recommend that you speak to your GP or local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit in the first instance. We also advise you to attend your local hospital for your routine antenatal appointments/ scans. Scan Preparation: Please attend with a full bladder. We suggest drinking approximately one litre of clear fluids an hour before your scan.
